Can I adopt if I have other pets at home?Absolutely. We’ll help arrange a safe introduction to make sure everyone gets along, including your current pets.

What if I rent or live in an apartment?Many of our dogs are great in apartments! Just be sure to check your rental agreement and have landlord approval if needed.

How old do I need to be to adopt a dog?ou must be 18 or older to adopt. If you’re under 18, you’ll need a parent or guardian involved in the process.

How do I go about adopting a dog?The first step is to have you fill out an adopters/fosters application. Once we have received the form we will give you a call.

What should I do on the first day at home?Keep things calm and quiet. Let your dog explore at their own pace, and give them a cozy spot to rest and settle in. Patience is key!

How long does it take for a dog to adjust?Every dog is different, but it can take anywhere from a few days to a few months. Routine, love, and consistency go a long way.

What should I feed my new dog?We’ll let you know what your dog has been eating here, and recommend a gradual transition if you’d like to change their diet. Stick to dog-safe foods only!

Do I need to book a vet visit right away?We recommend a check-up with your own vet within the first few weeks to keep everything on track.

My dog seems nervous—what can I do?That’s totally normal at first. Give them space, keep things predictable, and use positive reinforcement. We’re also happy to recommend a gentle trainer if needed.

Can I contact you if I have questions after adoption?Absolutely! We’re always here for you—once a part of the shelter family, always a part of the shelter family.

Can I return my dog if it really doesn’t work out?Yes—absolutely. We understand that sometimes, despite the best intentions, things don’t go as planned. If it’s not the right fit, we’ll welcome your dog back with open arms and help find them a new home. Our goal is always to support both you and the dog in finding the right match.
